I did my nails yesterday, so I won’t be able to give you a step by step picture tutorial. I will however explain in which order, and what products I use when I do a french manicure on myself.
I use these products (left to right) when I do my french manicure.
Before I use any of these products I wash my hands and file my nails. I always make sure that my nails are completely dry before I start using my polishes. First, I use Essie’s Apricot Cuticle Oil, so that my cuticles and nails are soft and healthy.
After that, I use Essie’s Grow Stronger Base Coat, so that the manicure sits better. I don’t have a picture of it, but I take small pieces of tape over the nails, except for the tips where the white polish goes.
For the tips I use Essie’s Blanc Nail Polish (they have many white shades, but I prefer this one). Since I have tape over my nails I don’t need to worry about getting nail polish anywhere I don’t want it.
I try to use the same brand on all my polishes when I do my nails, but I don’t have a pink colour from Essie that it sheer enough so you can see the white tips through the pink colour. That’s the reason why I use O.P.I Altar Ego instead, this nail polish is just pink enough that you can see its a pink colour.
Lastly I finish off the french manicure using Essie’s Good to Go Top Coat, which pretty much makes the manicure dry in 2 minutes (can take a bit longer)
The absolute last thing I do is moisturize my hands and nails using the Almond Hand & Nail Cream from The Body Shop which also makes it easier to remove all excess polish.
This is the finished product (not perfect but alright)
